Upon encountering an error, a Shark robot will stop and continue to flash red or blue, sometimes even switching between them. As a homeowner, it can be confusing to figure out what all this means.

In this post, we will share with you the Shark robot error codes troubleshooting guide. No matter which Shark robot model you have, you should be able to find a solution and get your robot working again.

Shark has 4 main robot vacuum models. They are Shark ION, Shark IQ, Shark EZ and Shark AI. Below we have carefully organized the error codes according to theshark robot modelfor your convenience.

Shark ION robot error code table

If any error lights are lit or flashing on your Shark ION Robot, troubleshoot using this error code table below. Disconnect power before performing any maintenance.

  • All LED lights are off -The unit is turned off. Cycle power switch. If not responding, connect to charging unit.
  • The red "Replace" LED is on -Your battery is ready to be replaced. you can buy a replacementright here.
  • Alternating flashing DOCK and SPOT -A side brush is clogged. Remove debris from side brushes.
  • DOCK and SPOT flashing together -Something is stuck in the main brush roller. Remove the obstruction.
  • CLEAN flashing blue -The front wheel sensor, cliff sensor or bumper is reporting an error. Make sure your robot can move freely by moving it to a new location on a flat surface. Make sure the front bumper is not stuck. If the cleaning light continues to flash blue, remove the front wheel and thoroughly clean the wheel.
  • SPOT flashing blue -The unit cannot move due to a surface or obstruction. Move the robot to a new location.
  • CLEAN flashing red -Cliff sensors are reporting an error. Wipe the cliff sensors with a clean cloth. It could also mean that the robot cannot start due to an error. Make sure your robot is on a level surface with no obstructions.
  • 🇧🇷 flashing symbol -Suction motor failure. Remove clogs and clean filters. Remove the bin and make sure nothing is blocking the suction.
  • CLEAN flashing red and “!” stays solid redYour charger has a problem. Contact Shark Customer Service.
  • 🇧🇷 and the CLEAN symbols flash -Your robot's BotBoundary sensors are reporting an error. Please contact usshark customer service.
  • CLEAN solid red -The recycle bin has been removed and needs to be reinstalled.
  • CLEAN solid blue -Your robot is in sleep mode. Press any button on the robot or remote to start it up again.

Shark IQ and EZ Robot Error Code Chart

If any error lights are lit or flashing on your Shark IQ or EZ Robot, troubleshoot using this error code table below. Disconnect power before performing any maintenance.

  • CLEAN (RED) flashing -Error number 10. The robot may be stuck in an obstacle. Move the robot to a new location on a flat surface.
  • DOCK (RED) flashing -Error number 6. The front bumper may be stuck. Clean the bumper and make sure it moves in and out freely.
  • CLEAN (BLUE) + DOCK (RED) solid -Bug number 14. BotBoundary error. Move your robot to a flat surface away from the magnetic threshold strip and try cleaning again.
  • CLEAN (RED) + DOCK (BLUE) flashing -Error number 7. Drop sensor error. Move your robot to a new location and clean its drop sensors.
  • CLEAN (RED) + DOCK (RED) flashing -Error number 9. It is necessary to reinstall the robot dust container. Insert the dust bag until it clicks into place.
  • SPRING (RED) + ! (RED) flashing -Error number 2. The side brush is clogged. Remove all debris around the side brushes so they move freely.
  • CLEAN (RED) + SPRING (RED) + ! (RED) flashing -Error number 2. A drive wheel is stuck. Clean the wheels and remove any debris wrapped around the axles so they can move freely.
  • CLEAN (RED) + DOCK (BLUE) alternating -Error number 16. The robot is stuck. Move your robot to a new location and make sure the front bumper moves in and out freely.
  • CLEAN (BLUE) + ! (RED) flashing -Error number 2. Obstruction in the rotating brush. Remove all debris from around the brush roll so it can spin freely.
  • CLEAN (RED) + SPRING (BLUE) + ! (RED) flashing -Error number 21. The robot encountered an error during initialization. Please turn off and on again.
  • CLEAN (BLUE) + DOCK (RED) flashing -Error number 23. Make sure the indicator light on your base turns blue to confirm your robot is seated correctly.
  • BATTERY ICON (RED) flashing -Error number 24. The battery is very low and needs to be recharged. Take your robot and place it in the base. Make sure the indicator light on the dock turns blue to confirm your robot is docked properly.
  • CLEAN (RED) + ! (RED) alternating -Error number 2. Obstruction in the rotating brush. Remove all debris from around the brush roll so it can spin freely.
  • SPRING (RED) FLASHING + ! (RED) solid -Error number 26. Obstruction in the dust container. Check robot base and trash can for obstructions. Clean up all debris and reinstall the dust bag, making sure it clicks into place.
  • SPRING (BLUE) + ! (RED) flashing -Error number 24. The robot encountered an error during the upload. Make sure you are using the correct power cable for your dock.
  • CLEAN (RED) + ! (RED) flashing -Error number 3. Vacuum motor failure. Remove and empty the dust container, clean the filters and clear any blockages.
  • CLEAN (BLUE) + SPRING (RED) + ! (RED) flashing -Error number 2. Wheel motor encoder failure. Please contact usshark customer service.

If any error lights are lit or flashing on your Shark AI Robot, troubleshoot using this error code table below. Disconnect power before performing any maintenance.

  • CLEAN (RED) + ! (RED) flashing -Suction motor failure. Remove and empty the bin, clean the filters and remove any clogs to make sure nothing is reducing the suction.
  • CLEAN (RED) flashing -The robot may be stuck in an obstacle. Move the robot to a new location on a flat surface.
  • DOCK (RED) flashing -Front bumper may be stuck. Clean the bumper and make sure it moves in and out freely.
  • CLEAN (WHITE) + solid DOCK (RED) -Bot limit error. Move your robot to a flat surface away from the magnetic threshold strip and try cleaning again.
  • CLEAN (RED) + DOCK (WHITE) flashing -Drop sensor error. Move your robot to a new location and clean its drop sensors.
  • CLEAN (RED) + DOCK (RED) flashing -The robot dust container has been removed and needs to be replaced.
  • SPRING (RED) + ! (RED) flashing -The side brush is clogged. Remove all debris around the side brushes.
  • CLEAN (RED) + SPRING (RED) + ! (RED) flashing -A drive wheel is stuck. Clean the wheels and remove any debris wrapped around the axles.
  • CLEAN (WHITE) + SPRING (RED) + ! (RED) flashing -Wheel motor encoder failure. Please turn off and on again.
  • CLEAN (WHITE) + ! (RED) flashing -Clog in the brush roll. Remove all debris around the brush roll.
  • CLEAN (RED) + SPRING (WHITE) + ! (RED) flashing -The robot encountered an error during initialization. Please turn off and on again.
  • CLEAN (WHITE) + DOCK (RED) flashing -The robot cannot find the dock. Take your robot and place it on the dock.
  • BATTERY ICON (RED) flashing -The battery is critically low and needs to be recharged. If your robot cannot dock, manually place it on the platform.
  • CLEAN (RED) + DOCK (WHITE) flashing + ! (RED) -The robot is trapped. Move to a level surface.
